Current TIP

The Cape Cod Transportation Improvement Program (TIP), in very simple terms, is a list of transportation system projects to be implemented within federal and state funds available for Cape Cod. Projects may include roadway, bicycle, pedestrian, and transit improvements.  The TIP, developed in accordance with federal laws, includes four years of projects, is financially constrained, and in conformance with air quality plans and programs. For a project to proceed to implementation from the TIP list, proponents must ensure that all designs are completed, and all permits and approvals are in place.

On December 21, 2009, the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) voted to endorse the current TIP.  The current TIP Amendment for Federal Fiscal Years 2010-2013 is in Adobe Acrobat file format (.pdf), and the current TIP is here.

Project submission for TIP consideration
To submit a project on Cape Cod for consideration for the TIP, please send in a copy of the state project form(s). The first step in proposing a project for the TIP is to submit Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) project forms to both the Cape Cod Commission transportation department and MassDOT Highway Division District 5. The MassDOT forms are available on through the MassDOT web link here:  Project Need Form (PNF) and Project Information Form (PIF).  Please submit to both MassDOT Highway Division District 5 Office in Taunton, MA, and to the "MPO/RPA" for Cape Cod, to the attention of:  Priscilla Leclerc, Senior Transportation Planner, Cape Cod Commission/ Cape Cod MPO.  Project evaluation is performed annually, or updated, for each TIP.
