The Cape Cod
Transportation Improvement Program (TIP),
in very
simple terms, is a list of transportation system projects to be
implemented within federal and state funds available for Cape Cod.
Projects may include roadway, bicycle, pedestrian, and transit
improvements. The TIP, developed in accordance with federal
laws,
includes four years of projects, is financially constrained,
and in conformance
with air quality plans and programs. For a project to proceed to
implementation from the TIP list, proponents must ensure that all
designs are completed, and all permits and approvals are in place.
On July 12, 2010, the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)
voted to endorse the current TIP. The current TIP Amendment for
Federal Fiscal Years (FFY) 2010-2013 is in Adobe Acrobat file format (.pdf),
and the current TIP Amendment is here.
UPDATE and PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD OPEN FOR TWO TIP DOCUMENTS
On July 12, 2010, the Cape Cod Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO)
voted to release TWO new TIP documents for public review--A NEW TIP Amendment for FFY 2010-2013, and a DRAFT TIP for FFY 2011-2014.
NEW TIP Amendment FFY 2010-2013: A TIP Amendment to Federal Fiscal Year 2010 is necessary to update 2010 TIP project costs--please see Adobe page 22 in the linked document. Draft NEW TIP Amendment for FFY 2010-2013 (here in Adobe Acrobat file).
DRAFT TIP FFY 2011-2014: This
Draft TIP is new with projects for 2011-2014 -- Bookmarks in the Adobe
document should assist in helping to find highway and transit projects
along with other information. Draft TIP for FFY 2011-2014 (here in Adobe Acrobat file).
PUBLIC COMMENTS on both of these Draft TIP Documents are welcome through 10:00 am on Thursday, August 16, 2010. The
MPO meets again on Monday, August 16, 2010, to consider endorsement of
BOTH the Draft TIP Amendment for FFY 2010-2013 and the Draft TIP for
FFY 2011-2014.
