2009 Summer Traffic Technicians (Interns)
The Cape Cod Commission is a Regional Land Use Planning and Regulatory Agency as well as a Metropolitan Planning Organization, serving the County of Barnstable, Massachusetts and the fifteen communities therein. The Transportation Program is expected to seek two qualified undergraduate or graduate students to work as Summer Traffic Technicians to implement the County's Summer Traffic Counting Program in 2009.
The Positions will:
Begin late May 2009 and end late August 2009;
Be full time positions, not to exceed 37.5 hours per week;
Offer approximately $ 13.78 per hour of work.
The Technicians Will:
Set up traffic counters and collect and process data collected from counters;
Manage the traffic count database;
Assist in the Regional Transportation Planning Process; and
Conduct turning movement counts at selected Cape Cod intersections.
Applicants Must:
Have completed at least one full year of technical courses related to the position prior to the start date (e.g.,. engineering, transportation planning, etc.) preferred;
Be familiar with Microsoft Windows, Office, spreadsheet/database programs, and Geographic Information Systems (preferred);
Possess a valid driver's license and reliable vehicle to perform field work away from the office (reimbursed by Barnstable County); and
Be able to lift small objects of up to approximately 30 pounds in weight.
