Barnstable

Route 132. Effective Tuesday, December 4th (weather permitting), traffic will be shifted from the existing two lane section of Route 132 to the newly constructed two lanes of Route 132. Driveway access to all properties along the road will be maintained from the new section of roadway. The main impact of this traffic shift will be the elimination of all left turns onto and out of Shootflying Hill Road. Right turns into and out of Shootflying Hill Road will continue to be allowed. Message signs and local detour routing signs will be installed to assist drivers in modifying their routes and minimize traffic related issues. If you have questions, please call MassHighway at 1-800-635-3590 or Bob Burgmann, Town Engineer at 508-862-4070.

The Massachusetts Highway Department is adding two new travel lanes to Route 132 (Iyannough Road) from the Route 6 Interchange 6 to the vicinity of the Phinneys Lane intersection. The project includes a landscaped median up to 30 feet wide, relocation of Shootflying Hill Road combined with Huckins Neck Road to a new signalized intersection aligned opposite of the Hyannis Golf Club, off-road multi-use sidewalk along the southwest side of the road, stormwater and drainage improvements.

Sagamore Rotary replacement. The Massachusetts Highway Department has replaced the rotary with a grade separated interchange. The project is often referred to as the "Sagamore Rotary fly-over" because traffic heading to or from Route 3 passes over local traffic and Scenic Highway traffic. New traffic pattern as of September 20, 2006. Relocation of the Sagamore Park and Ride Lot and other peripheral work remain. Real-time updates on traffic conditions may be available from SmarTraveler.
